Family Outing

About a month and a half ago we checked out the fair town of Leavenworth. It has been really fun going for a drive for an hour or two and there are all these fun new places to check out and explore. Leavenworth is a little German town and we just got some lunch there and walked around. Josh lived in Germany when he was young so we were excited to check this place out. 

Here are the girls in between playing in the leaves. Just as we were getting out of the car Brya says, "So this is Russia." Then while we were eating lunch at the local Subway Ally heard some people talking and said, "Mom those people speak English just like us."  Both girls were convinced we were in another country. For a kid two hours in the car can feel like days I'm sure.

All of the buildings in this town hare this type of architecture. Even the Albertson's we passed on the way out of town. We didn't drive through any neighborhoods so I don't know if it is just the commercial side of things or the whole town.

We even found a friendly stranger who offered to take our picture after watching us make a big display of trying to use the self timer she felt sorry for us and offered up her services.

On our way back home we stopped at this little tourist farmy thing and had lots of fun. It was just 20 or 30 minutes outside of Leavenworth. They had tons a fun free or really cheap things to do with the kids in hopes that you would buy something from their over priced store. Except for their seasonal produce, that was a pretty good deal especially if you buy it in large quantities like we do.

My Grandpa Rice always had homemade swings out of cut up tires so I thought of him when I saw these. I think he may have made one like these once. The girls loved them.

No farm is complete with out a lasso handy so you can rope your kids whenever you get bored or they get out of line. It really is a great parenting tool, we never have to yell when the lasso is around. Lassos are great for scouting activities as well Josh has discovered.

Eli and Daddy enjoying the great outdoors. Every time we put him down he did have lots of new things to put in his mouth. Luckily he didn't mind getting packed around for most of our fun.

You can't have a farm with out a teepee! They have everything here!

There little store did look really cool and farmy. We took lots of pictures of the whole place because we want to have something similar to this some day.

Another great thing about this place, they had "hugemungerous" (as Josh would say) tires just sticking out of the ground for you to climb and play on. Talk about reusing. I have a lot of fond memories of tires as a kid so I felt very happy here.

This little bumble bee swing was the highlight of Eli's day. He had so much fun swinging in it and he screamed and cried when we finally made him get out because we were all getting really cold. I'm afraid my baby boy doesn't have the natural fear that seemed to be present in our girls that kept them from doing crazy or common place things. I'm a little concerned he will be a little dare devil.
